A.   University Rules, qualifications etc
 
 
1.    What is the admission process for Private colleges approved by AICTE & affiliated to UP Technical?
a)    Admission to the UP Technical University affiliated colleges is primarily done through the counseling process of the University.
b)    The eligible students who have appeared in the UP State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) will be called for counseling according to the rank in the examination. The students under the counseling process will be required to give their choice of colleges they want to be admitted. The student can then give all the choices as the same college for different branches. For example for B Tech they may enter the name of “Jahangirabad Educational Trust Group of Institutions, Faculty of Engineering” with college code 545 and for MBA “Jahangirabad Educational Trust Group of Institutions, Faculty of Management” with college code 599
 
2.    Can a student who has not appeared in the UPSEE or AIEEE examination get admission in JETGI?
Yes, the students who could not appear in the UPSEE or MAT examinations still have a chance to get admission in JETGI under management quota provided they register immediately as the admission will be on first come first serve and merit basis and based on the performance in institute internal examination as well. JETGI does not charge any donations or development charge, the students fulfilling minimum eligibility criteria shall appear in the internal competitive exam. The students will be selected based on the ranking in the examination at the college discretion.
 
 
3.    What is the qualification required for admission in B Tech or MBA programs?
The admission in B.Tech 1st Year the student should have qualified 10+2 level examination with 50% marks in PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Admission in first year MBA program, the student should have passed three years graduation from recognized university with minimum 50% marks.
 
 
4.    Can student who has scored more than 50% marks in 10+2 examination without Math as subject get admission in B Tech course
No, a student who did not have Math as a subject in 10+2, is not eligible for admission in B Tech Course.
 
 
5.    What is the minimum percentage required?
                   50% aggregate marks are required for MBA admission and 50% marks in PCM 
         (Physics,Chemistry & Math) for B.Tech admission.
 
 
B.   Lateral Entry to Engineering courses
 
 
6.    Is admission in second year of Engineering possible or the lateral entry is allowed?
Lateral entry for B Tech second year is possible, students who have passed three years full time diploma in Engineering from a recognized polytechnic and graduate students who have completed B Sc with Math and have secured 60% marks for both the cases can be admitted to the second year in B Tech

7.    How old is the college?
Jahangirabad Education Trust was established in the year 2001 and was known as Jahangirabad Institute of Technology (JIT) Over the past five years four batches of different courses have passed out from the institutions - One batch each of MBA and MA Mass Communication through Mysore University, two batches of One Year Post Graduate Diploma in Electronic Media offered by Jahangirabad Media Institute.
 
8.    Who are the promoters and supporters of the college?
The institute is promoted by a large number of professionally successful Non Resident Indians (NRIs) who are settled abroad & have come together with professionals in India to promote higher technical education amongst Indians. The advisory board consists of prominent personalities.
 
9.    What are the different courses offered through the trust?
 
The Trust offers two type of courses, one approved by AICTE and affiliated to UP Technical University, which means the students will be awarded UP Technical University degree on passing out. These two courses are offered from the AICTE approved integrated campus in the Jahangirabad Fort & offered through Jahangirabad Educational Trust Group of Institutions.
One year PG Diploma course and other short term independent courses in Electronic Media are also offered from the campus of JMI or Jahangirabad Media Institute adjacent to the Jahangirabad Fort.
 
10. What are the different branches of engineering offered at the college?
                    The Institute offers engineering in the following branches in engineering:

·         Electrical Engineering
·         Electronics and Communication Engineering
·         Mechanical Engineering
·         Civil Engineering ( Approval is awaited from AICTE for introduction from session 2010-11)
 
 
11. Does Jahangirabad Educational Trust Group of Institutions have labs and workshops for all the branches?

 JETGI has well equipped workshop and labs as per the norms of AICTE in all the disciplines  offered in the first year.
 
 12. Does the institute have a library?
 
The institute has one of the best libraries in Lucknow spread over 4000 sq feet and equipped with latest International and National journals, books more than double the titles as per AICTE norms, eBooks, Multimedia and eLibrary facilities as well as equipped with air conditioned reading room.
 
13. What is the library usage charge? Do we need to deposit library usage fee?
 
Institute considers library as an integral part of learning process. The institute does not charge any special library usage fees from the students.
 
14. Does the institute have Book Bank facility?
 
Yes, the institute offers book bank facility to all the students on a one time nominal charge of Rs 4000. Under which identified text books are supplied to the students every year on return of the previous year books.

  17. Is the faculty experienced?
It is our endeavor to arrange for the best available faculty with academic and industry background, majority of the faculty members are experienced from educational institutions and/or the industry.
Even our Executive Director is from the industry with 30 years experience at some of the best Indian global coporates like ITC, TCS, HCL, Reliance Industries, to name a few.
  
 
18. How many seats are there in each branch?
 
In each branch the Institute can admit 60 students in each academic year.
 
 19. What is the percentage of students passed last year?
 
In the previous batches 70% is our result.
 
20. What is transport / conveyance facility?
 
Jahangirabad is connected with Lucknow & Barabanki by Bus & autos. Additionally Institute also plans to run contract buses depending on the number of students from different parts of the city, contract services may be organized from defined pick up points.
 
21. How much does transport cost us?
 
Public transport is as per the market rates. The cost of transport organized by the institute will depend on the pickup point and the charges by the contract carriage.

22. What is the placement track record of the Jahangirabad Educational Trust Institutions?
 
The 70% of the students passed out of the previous four batches in various subjects are employed at reputed organizations and many of them have turned entrepreneurs & have started their own organizations.
 
23. Do the students get any professional exposure to prepare for the jobs in the industry?
 
The Institute frequently invites prominent and senior professors form industry in India and world over for lecture and interaction with students. Some recent visitors include:

E.   Tuition fees and other charges
 
24. What is the fee structure?
 
The institute charges one of the lowest fees in UP among the private colleges, various charges are as follows:
 
a.    Prospectus cost –                           Rs. 400/-
b.    Annual Tuition Fee –                      Rs.63,400/-
c.    University Fee –                              Rs.3,550/-
d.    Annual Hostel Lodging Charges –          Rs.18,000/-
e.    Annual Boarding or Food charges*        Rs. 22000

25. Are there any hidden charges apart from the mentioned fee heads?
 
Jahangirabad Educational Trust Group of Institutions does not charge any hidden charges under the above heads. The students may be required to pay for tour which may be organized for any purpose.
 
26. Do we have to pay term / semester fees?
 
At present, no additional term / semester fee is charged. Government norms shall be applicable
 
27. Can we pay the fees in the installment?
 
Conventionally, total fee is to be paid at the time of admission. It is not the policy of the Institute to collect amount in break-ups or installments. However, few exceptionally deserving cases may be considered purely at institute discretion for payment of fees in two installments. The student needs to pay the total amount within 4 months of admission.

28. What are the documents necessary at the time of admission?
 
a.    Original and Copy of UPSEE / AIEEE Rank certificate
b.    Original and Copy of UPSEE / AIEEE / CAT / MAT Admit Card
c.    Original and copy of Marks Sheets
d.    Medical Certificate
e.    Migration / Transfer Certificate
f.     Parent / Guardian Income Certificate
g.    Character Certificate
h.    Category Certificate
i.      Domicile Certificate if the candidate is residing outside UP
j.      Proof of Residence
 
29. Do we need to deposit the documents in original?
 
Yes, all the original documents shall be submitted before admission. For document details refer Q.No.15.
 
30. Are our documents safe?
  
Yes, they are safe with the Institute and shall be returned after the completion of the course or as per the government regulations.
 
 31. Do we need to submit the original TC at the time of registration /admission?
 
Yes, the Transfer Certificate from the previous college/school is essential. If the student has not been on a regular classes or college during the last year/s he/she should submit an affidav lawyer certificate supporting his absence from studies.
 
G.   Scholarships & other concessions
 
32. Are there any scholarships & benefits available in the institute
Institute offers two types of scholarships in addition to various government scholarships
 
a)    Girls Scholarships
 
b)    Merit Scholarships
 
Additionally institute also offer free hostel accommodation for the first 100 registrations for admissions to those who fulfill all the hostel allotment criteria as per the announced scheme.
 
 33. What is the criterion for scholarship?
 
Girls Student Scholarship: Institute offers special up to 100 scholarships to Girl students equal to 50% tuition fee concessions. Other conditions of the scheme will apply.
Merit Scholarship: up to 20 number of full tuition fee concession will be offered to students based on 70% or above percentile in qualifying examination for general category and 60 or above percentile for Muslim minority students
 
The institute will provide guidance to the students in utilizing the government  scholarships:
 
Students whose parents’ income is less than one lakh rupees per annum can avail full
tuition fee scholarship from Central Government scheme through Social Welfare
Department by filling in the prescribed forms and other formalities.
 
Students whose parents’ income is more than 1 lakh but less than 2.5 lakhs can avail
the scholarship from the “Merit cum Means Scholarship” scheme.
 
34. What are the merit benefits available?
 
 A maximum of 10% of all admitted students in B Tech & MBA or a maximum of 20
students shall be eligible for full tuition fee concession as per the merit scholarship
scheme.
 
Maximum of 100 Girl students shall be eligible for concession up to 50% tuition fee
under the Girls Student Scholarship Scheme.
 
35. Can the student avail more than one scholarship or fee free ship?
 
Student can avail only one benefit from all sources at a time. The second scholarship or fee free ship shall not be available.
 
36. Is the scholarship transferable or can it be substituted for other student?
 
 
Scholarship or fee free ship is neither transferable nor can be substituted.
 
37. What support is available for students with low family income?
 
 
   ·         There are several scheme announced by government time to time for the socially & economically weaker students.
·         Students whose parents’ income is lesser than one lakh rupees per year can avail the complete scholarship from Central Government scheme of Social Welfare for the prescribed Tuition fee.
·         Students whose parents’ income is more than 1 lakh and lesser than 2.5 lakhs can avail the scholarship from the “Merit cum Means Scholarship” scheme.
 
 38. What is the possibility of government scholarship?
 
To avail government scholarship the student must fulfill the criteria and submit the application in time with valid documentary proof of entitlement for the scholarship. The college authorities can provide guidance & assistance but government is the final authority for sanctioning the scholarship. If the student fails to get scholarship for any reason he has to pay the complete tuition & other fees as applicable. The student would be required to sign an undertaking at the time admission for the same.
 
Institute will not charge the tuition fees from the SC/ST category students at the time of admissions, they need to submit the other fees components
 
H.   Hostel Facilities
 
39. What is the accommodation facility?
 
The college has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls which can currently accommodate about 150 students. The hostel rooms are spacious, well-furnished and hygienic. The hostel is provided with a television, water-purifier, water cooler and other basic amenities. Each room is furnished with bed, study table, chair, wardrobe, fan and adequate lightning. Hygienic toilets are maintained in each section. There are round the clock security guards on duty in the campus.
 
40. What is the safety for girl students?
 
Round the clock security personnel are available on the entire campus to provide a sense of security to all the hostlers especially to girl students.  
 
41. How much is the accommodation charges?
 
The annual lodging charges are 18,000/-
 
42. Hostel rooms are single or shared?
 
The hostel rooms are spacious with high roof; rooms are on sharing basis depending on the size of the room
 
 
    43. What are the mess charges?
 
The hostel charges for boarding ie Mess charges are Rs.22000 per annum
 
44. What is the quality of food?
 
The College provides hygienic food and snacks, catering to the students and staff. The college has a good canteen providing vegetarian & non vegetarian food at reasonable prices. A variety of snacks and soft drinks are available. The mess hall can accommodate about 150 students at a time.
 
 45. What about extra servings?
 
Currently, Food in the mess is served on Buffet basis.
 
46. How can the students concentrate during the long power break down?
 
The campus has full power back up by two gen sets of 83.5 33.5 KVA, capable of supplying power 24x7
 
47. What is the placement record?
 
More than 70 % Students of the previous batches are currently employed in reputed organization.
 
I.      Miscellaneous
 
48. What about the uniform?
 
Uniform to the students will be provided by the college at very reasonable prices.
 
 
     49. What is the minimum attendance requirem
 
75% is a compulsory requirement for all courses as prescribed by the university. The college will issue notice and appropriate action if the student does not come regularly for the classes. Finally the student will not be allowed for exams falling short of attendance.
 
50. What are the prospects of each engineering branch?
 
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING : Electrical Engineering are fundamental to the economic and social prosperity of the world. Electrical Engineers have many opportunities for exciting careers ranging from designers of power systems, robots to factory automation, software developers to high-tech ‘dotcom’ company executives. Jobs can be sought in electrical equipment manufacturing companies, electrical equipment servicing companies, power generation plants, It and software industries.
 
ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION : Electronics and communications engineering graduates have many opportunities for variety of careers like designers of telecommunication systems used in service industries such as the Police, to designing the communication system, to control remote robots, from designing Internet-based software to running high-tech ‘dotcom’ companies. Jobs can be sought in manufacturing units of electronics and telecom equipments, servicing of electronic equipments, in consumer electronics sector etc.
 
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING : Mechanical Engineers work with operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Engineers can do research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Mechanical and Automotive Engineering provide skills, knowledge and understanding in these areas, along with the principles, computer-based technologies, CAD / CAM, Vehicle designs,  and innovative design processes associated with machines and road vehicles. Students can work as Aerospace Engineers, Biomedical Engineers, Agricultural Engineers, Chemical engineers and Health and Safety Engineers.
 
COMPUTER SCIENCE and ENGINEERING :
 
There is an increasing shortage of trained graduates with technical, analytical, business and interpersonal skills. Computer software engineers develop and maintain computer software programs and they work in manufacturing, industry, engineering, government offices, and educational institutions.
 
The computer applications software engineers develop applications using different programming languages for different tasks like C and C++ used by scientists, and Java which is useful for Web applications.
 Computer systems software engineers develop the software necessary to run computer systems. They design the software based on client's needs. In a large company they may coordinate each of a department's needs. These engineers typically work for computer design firms or manufacturers that configure, implement, and install computer systems for companies. Systems software engineers will work with a team of engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and design people to set up a system for the client company.
 
MBA - 2 Years Full-time
 
The Business & Management program is aimed at those who are interested in pursuing careers in business management, marketing and finance and seeking to enter the business world at managerial level. It is also suitable for motivated mid-career managers to enhance their career prospects. The course focuses on business at work, competitive business, marketing, human resource, finance and planning. This business qualification can lead to many varied career opportunities, not just in the commercial sector, but increasingly in the public sector and other not-for-profit organizations, managerial positions in Operational, Administration, Human Resources, Finance and marketing departments in corporate offices.
